Общался недавно с одноклассником, который является предпринимателем средней руки в Москве и Подмосковье. Из-за своей деловой активности он имеет возможность общаться с некоторыми крупными региональными чиновниками или функционерами. Например, с руководством областного Мособлгаза. Помимо рассказа о том, что это руководство ездит на работу только на вертолете, рассказал интересную деталь, которая скорее относится к осени 2022 года, когда российские власти провели частичную мобилизацию, чем к 2023 году. В Мособлгаз, значит, пришла сверху разнарядка, вы должны выдать столько-то рекрутов-добровольцев. Если ваши сотрудники не проявят инициативу, то пусть тогда собирают деньги в отдельный вневедомственный фонд, и эти деньги пойдут на поиск и вербовку желающих повоевать. Иначе сами пойдете воевать. Мособлгаз – это зажиточная контора. За подключение дома они берут не меньше 200 т. рублей. Сами они ямы и траншеи уже давно не копают, нанимают узбеков со стороны. Если зайти в любой офис Мособлгаза, вы увидите холеные откормленные рожи, хорошие костюмы и гвардейские осанки. Сотрудники Мособлгаза реально могли бы усилить ВДВ, потому что по виду они здоровые кони с хорошим питанием. Но, рассказывают моему однокласснику, воевать они почему-то не захотели. Начали скидываться деньгами, и скидывались по 100 тысяч рублей, что немалая сумма. Если в одном районном отделении работают таких шесть выездных газовщиков, то как раз собирается бонусная одноразовая сумма для одного рекрута, которого уже ищет их начальство, если только, конечно, не попытается часть суммы присвоить себе.

Вспомнил об этой истории я потому, что просмотрел недавно лекцию про Гровера Кливленда. Три американских историка этим летом выступили с часовой лекцией про забытых президентов 19 века. Двое из них – точно историки, третий (Troy Senik) писал речи для Буша-младшего и только сейчас ступил на историческую стезю. Трой Сеник написал книгу про Кливленда, про которого публика уже давно напрочь все забыла. Кливленд был из Нью-Йорка, имел политические связи. Два его брата были призваны и воевали за Союз (Union) во время Гражданской войны. Это тоже добавляло очков к политической репутации Кливленда. Сам Кливленд был призван, но служить он не пошел. Вместо себя он нанял за деньги рекрута и отправил того на фронт. Такая практика была разрешенной в те дни. Это не было противозаконно. Репутация Кливленда не пострадала от этого. Тот рекрут был каким-то бедным итальянцем-иммигрантом, только сошедшим с корабля. Он почти сразу же получил серьезное ранение в спину, и остаток войны пробыл при кухне. Кливленд потом с ним общался.

CNN тут скорее всего перевирает слова Келли (и Атлантик - тоже). В этом можно быть практически уверенным просто потому, что они всегда так делают. Келли в свою очередь является мудаком, и явно в лучшем случае вырывает слова из контекста.

Это не говоря уже о том, что нефиг было американским войскам делать в Европе, это было огромной подставой Вильсона, и таки да, вполне себе suckers.

Кстати, а что это коммуняк внезапно пробило на любовь к не-Красной армии? Можете объяснить этот феномен? Вот поливали-поливали армию говном, а тут раз, и внезапно возмущены тем, что якобы Трамп отозвался недостаточно почтительно. Что случилось? Можете объяснить?

(White House Chief of Staff Reince) Priebus called an end to the meeting. Mattis seemed completely deflated.
Trump got up and walked out.
All the air seemed to have come out of Tillerson. He could not abide Trump’s attack on the generals. The president was speaking as if the U.S. military was a mercenary force for hire. If a country wouldn’t pay us to be there, then we didn’t want to be there. As if there were no American interests in forging and keeping a peaceful world order, as if the American organizing principle was money.
“Are you okay?” Cohn asked him.
“He’s a fucking moron,” Tillerson said so everyone heard.

Не знаю, кто, по вашему мнению, ее разоблачил. Вудворд - один из самых уважаемых американских журналистов, в его книга была одним из главных бестселлеров 2018. Книга основаны на интервью с сотрудниками администрации Трампа, которые записывались на пленку. В 2019 и 2020 Трамп встречался с Вудвордом 20 раз, чтобы дать ему свои собственные интервью для книжки "Rage". В 2022 интервью были опубликованы отдельно под названием "The Trump Tapes".

"Уважаемый" он только в кругу таких же коммунячьих врунов, как и он. А разоблачили все, начиная с Трампа. Вудварда поймали на выборочном креативном цитировании и передергивании.

У Рейгана военная служба также была так себе, номинальной. Сперва он получил одну отсрочку. Потом всё же прибился к ВВС Армии в качестве пресс-службы, служа рядом с Голливудом. Shamir said Reagan also informed him that he had saved a copy of the film because he believed that, in time, people would question what had happened. Many years later, as Shamir recalled being told, Reagan was asked by a member of his family whether the Holocaust occurred.
"That moment I thought," Shamir quoted Reagan as saying, "this is the time for which I saved the film, and I showed it to a group of people who couldn't believe their eyes. From then on, I was concerned for the Jewish people."

Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, also was present. He told Omang that Reagan said he was "a member of the Signal Corps taking pictures of the camps" and that he had saved a copy of the film and shown it a year later to a person who thought the reports were exaggerated.
